George Fox at 400 Conference

George Fox at 400 Conference

For the Quakers reading this blog and those interested in Quaker studies, this Saturday (Saturday 5 April 2025 - 13:30-21:00 (UK time)) there's a really great online mini-conference put on by Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre looking at the Quaker tradition at Fox's 400th birthday (2024). I am one of the speakers, looking at a where Quakerism is headed for it's 400th anniversary (2052). Other speakers include Tim Gee of FWCC and my Guilford colleague, Gwen Gosney Erickson. Here's the blurb:

In 2024, many Quaker communities responded to the 400th anniversary of the birth of George Fox with events, discussions, and commemorations. This conference will ask what we learned about ourselves and our future as well as about Fox and our history.
Invited speakers including Tim Gee of the Friends World Committee for Consultation will reflect on the response to Fox at 400. There will be chances to reflect on what worked well and what might be useful in future as well as any mistakes or missed opportunities. How do we use elements of our past to inform our present and build our future?
Everyone is welcome to this event. It may be of particular interest to those involved in planning or running events, those involved in creating publications about Quakers, those involved in Quaker education and Quaker Studies research, and those involved in Quaker outreach.

If this is of interest, I hope you can join us!
