Dress Down Friday for 2019-07-26
Here are some of the things I’ve been enjoying this past week.
Like most everyone, I’m a huge Stranger Things fan. While we were in Atlanta last week for a visit with family we stopped by to see Starcourt Mall. 😉
The Adapt podcast is a new tech podcast from Relay FM that is focused completely on iPadOS and using iPad as your main device. I personally am too wedded to my MacBook Pro to make go iPad only, but I really like the podcast because I learn a lot of iPad tips and tricks. I’ve enjoyed all the episodes but I found this one on creating eBooks on the iPad to be particularly interesting, as was this episode on OCR.
A few months back in the Fuller Theological Seminary Magazine there was a beautiful contemporary version of the Ignatian Examen. They just released an app version of the prayer that works with iOS that is worth checking out.
I like this post from Brené Brown on The Wholehearted Parenting Manifesto that was shared on Rohr’s recent blog post. Here’s a taste of that:
When uncertainty and scarcity visit, you will be able to draw from the spirit that is a part of our everyday life.
Together we will cry and face fear and grief. I will want to take away your pain, but instead I will sit with you and teach you how to feel it.
We will laugh and sing and dance and create. We will always have permission to be ourselves with each other. No matter what, you will always belong here.
As you begin your Wholehearted journey, the greatest gift that I can give to you is to live and love with my whole heart and to dare greatly.
I will not teach or love or show you anything perfectly, but I will let you see me, and I will always hold sacred the gift of seeing you. Truly, deeply, seeing you.
-Brené Brown
I know this is from a while ago, but I thought this post, “I Preached With a Screen So You Don’t Have To” by John Jay Alvaro I came across recently was very thought-provoking.

Mini-Review: One new thing I discovered this week, SoundPeat Bluetooth headphones (Affiliate link). I read an article about them and saw you could snag a pair for $26 (with an Amazon coupon) so I got a pair to use. I’ve been wanting a pair of AirPods but haven’t wanted to put down the cash for them. I’ve been using the past four days, listening to music, podcasts, and making phone calls. I really like them so far. I have noticed a couple drops from one earpiece They have a nice fit, the sound quality holds up, and they pair really easily. For the price, you cannot beat these little earbuds.
