A Short Prayer Service with The Lord’s Prayer
Getting back on track of doing some work on the Lord’s Prayer I thought I would offer a simple prayer service we used for small group a while back. This could work as a personal time for reflection or for small groups, and can be changed and modified to your own liking. This is set up to have multiple participate and can involve a meal if you want to go for a longer meeting.
ALL: Our Heavenly Father many your name be sanctified
Person in the group: Consider the ways we can pray this prayer in three forms: inward, upward and outward.
[Allow for silence]
Person in the group: How can I come to a place where your kingdom is evident in me? How can it become evident in us?
[Allow for Silence]
ALL: Your kingdom come, your will be done. On Earth as it is in heaven.
Person in the group: Do I seek to share my resources, belonging and food with those who need it? Am I available to share daily bread with others?
ALL: Give us this day our daily bread.
[For Quakers: sharing a common??? meal together at this point would be appropriate, For other groups who do it symbolically you could go that route during this time]
Person in the group: What do I owe you God? And What debts Have I incurred against you and others?
ALL: Forgive us our debts as we have forgiven our debtors.
[Allow for silence]
Person in the group: When do I let temptation overcome me? Where do I see myself in the Garden of Gethsemane?
ALL: Lead us not into temptation, but rescue us from evil.
[Allow for closing silence]
