I really like the ambassador image, especially the finesse of diplomacy and the need to comprehend our (spiritual) government's purpose. Most of my Yoder is second-hand but it sounds like he's more laid back about it all. If so, then he resembles a lot of the Friends in my neck of the woods, who can be too mellow for their/our/God's own good.

An "ambassador" feels much like a "Public Friend," someone who is both widely known as a Quaker (by reputation or action) and willing to share the good news of the Friends interpretation of the gospel. There's a certain formality in the role. In class Quaker journals, young Friends who accept the yoke of ministry generally begin by cleaning up their appearance: adopting plain dress, dropping their more wayward companions and living a life more open to public scrutiny.
