@Chris Mohr - Thanks! I had a great time there and I am excited for the opportunity. What did you think of the interview?

Wess,

Funny -- I was catching up on blogposts, listening to the interview because Jarrod linked to it on his own blog at
http://paceebene.org/blog/jarrod-mckenna/tom-sine-new-conspirators, when I read your post about the very same interview!

Hope you had a great trip to North Carolina. It's great that you can be part of the editorial team!

@Jarrod,
Yes, I am going to pick it up, I am sure I will like it. Ryan has really great things to say about it, actually he's using for a class he's doing (and I'm TAing for) this summer.

I'd like to see this budding conversation on the Peace Tree and monasticism as well as something on emerging church in the US -- I know I've used the monastic category too, this refection above is a recent development in my thinking on these things. We've talked about some of this before, in other posts, but I'd like to hear it spelled out from your perspective more.

Thanks for your comment Jarrod - I really appreciate what you all are doing.

Also, think of me as I'm traveling to the other side of the states this weekend (away from the fam) to be with some Quakers who are working on an ecumenical youth project. It should be good work.

brother Wess,
I think you are going to love Tom's Book. We've been working hard since he got here doing gigs but I still stayed up till 1am reading his book. Considering our first prayers are at 630am that's late... (I didn't make it!)

Tom and I have been talking how we Peace Tree crew though put in the new monastic bucket we don't like the term (both for the reason you mentioned and cause soooo! U.S.centric). But that's another conversation.

Often the US thinking "emerging church" started in the US with no idea that it started so much earlier in the UK.

I got prayers to get up for mate so I'll have to leave it their but great post.

Grace and peace for the transformation of creation,
jarrod
