Hey, and next year's FWCC Section of the America's meeting will be somewhere in the region of the Ohio Valley...

Today, I finally felt up to reading what other people had to say so far - I'm having a hard time corralling all my thoughts and stories into something coherent, so thank you Wess for posting this.

@Raye - thank you.

@Laurie - thanks for your comment. Yes both Robin and I have a desire to see God mend frays, and rest assured there are many many more people doing this as well!

@Liz - I was really bummed that I couldn't come down to see you and participate in the dinner with everyone who was there. I trust it was a wonderful time of fellowship. FGC does sound great and thank you so much for inviting me. I will have to take a rain check this year as I will be in England during that time but maybe next year? Is there something else going on later in the year?

I think you're right that it would be good for me to experience this gathering. I think I could use any combination of these things:

a week of silent retreat;
a week of intergenerational fun;
a week of intellectual learning;
a week of personal renewal;
a week of spiritual journeying with fFriends;
a week of singing and music…

Wess, even though I saw Robin this past First Day immediately after FWCC in Providence, Rhode Island, I wasn't able to corner her long enough to find out how things went. So thanks for the thorough report.

I suggest that your next major visit be to FGC's annual Gathering, so that you can understand that it is in no way the same as a yearly meeting! It is more a weeklong blend of fellowship, worship, learning, and family-friendly fun.

I used to think of the Gathering as a weeklong Quaker sleep-away camp for grown-ups and their families, the type of camp where you can make the experience anything you want it to be:

a week of silent retreat;
a week of intergenerational fun;
a week of intellectual learning;
a week of personal renewal;
a week of spiritual journeying with fFriends;
a week of singing and music...

If you still wonder what I'm getting at, check out the website FGC has put up about Gathering. It'd be great to see you in my neck of the woods this summer!

Thanks again for your faithfulness in being a part of this journey, especially since we each have our own gifts, our own connections, and our own experiences to share.

Blessings,
Liz Opp, The Good Raised Up
